Biography

Alexander Khalyavkin is the Academic Secretary of Gerontological Society of RAS (Moscow Branch), Senior Researcher of the Emanuel Institute of Biochemical Physics of RAS and Senior Researcher of the Institute for Systems Analysis of FRC CSC RAS. His Alma Mater was the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (the Russian MIT). His postgraduate training was at the Gamaleya Institute for Epidemiology and Microbiology (Moscow). He has completed his PhD in Immunology at 1980. He is author and lecturer of “Introduction to Biogerontology” for the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1991-2000). He cooperated with the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (2001-2009). His research interests include theoretical aspects of biomedicine, biogerontology, biodemography, an effect of environmental factors on the rate of aging, and some aspects of the regulation of reproduction of normal and malignant cells. He studied non-canonical (growth control) function of the immune system and mechanism for a switching of symmetric to asymmetric mitosis in stem cells.

Theoretical aspects of Biomedicine, Biogerontology, Biodemography, an effect of environmental factors on the rate of aging and some aspects of the regulation of reproduction of normal and malignant cells.
